Online Teacher Training 4rd edition

This course focuses on the basic principles of online teaching. The course covers both technological and instructional design skills, as well as pedagogical concepts, always in relation to teaching and learning in online environments. Throughout the course, participants will acquire the technological skills to navigate on the Moodle platform. Likewise, methodology and good practices of the development of instructional design will be presented. Finally, participants will learn basic concepts and best practices in online pedagogy, including discussion moderation, course management, feedback to participants, assessment of learning and online presence. Competencies: 1. Demonstrate technological and management skills for online tutors 2. Identify teaching and online course management strategies which serve as a guide for students in asynchronous virtual environments. 3. Analyze the components of an effective learning environment. 4. Establish a social and teaching presence with a view to fostering learning and to create a learning community 5. Identify best practices to moderate online discussions. 6. Apply the basic principles and fundamental requirements for the instructional design of an online course. 7. Select the most appropriate learning activities in line with learning objectives. 8. Make use of existing best practices when giving online instructions and provide comments on students’ work in a virtual classroom. 9. Identify online resources which support students’ distance learning. 10. Review the progress of information acquired during the course.
